Product Information

Welcome to the world of Alpacas

As you flip through the pages of this book, you won’t just find a lovingly curated collection of knitting patterns that LANG have developed to showcase the versatility of our alpaca yarn: you’ll also be joining us on a journey to the fascinating and fibrous kingdom of the alpaca.

Renowned for its softness, warmth and exquisite texture, alpaca yarn offers a truly luxurious knitting experience – so whether you’ve been knitting for years or are just starting out, get your needles at the ready and delve into a world of inspiration and information on all things alpaca.

Alpacas belong to the camelid family, and are native to the High Andes of Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Unlike the Llama, which South American civilisations used as a pack animal, the alpaca was bred for its fine wool and for textile production. Alpacas have provided the inhabitants of the Andes with soft yet robust fibres for thousands of years, inspiring a rich tradition of spinning, dyeing and weaving that remains highly prized to this day.
